Egg

In trans communities, "egg" is affectionate slang for a person who is transgender but has not yet realized or fully accepted their identity, like a chick that has not yet hatched. The moment of realization is called "cracking the egg," and hints that appear in hindsight are sometimes called "egg signs." The term is generally used self-referentially or warmly within the community to describe one's own past, and it points to how gender self-discovery is often gradual and can arrive late in life. It is considered rude to label someone else an egg, since only a person can name their own identity.
