Gray-A

Gray-A, short for gray-asexual and also written graysexual, describes a person who falls between asexual and allosexual. They may experience sexual attraction very rarely, only in certain circumstances, at low intensity, or in a way they find hard to define. The label acknowledges that attraction is not always an all-or-nothing experience. Gray-A is an umbrella for several related identities, including demisexuality, where attraction forms only after a strong emotional bond. The term grew out of asexual community spaces such as AVEN, where people wanted words for feelings that were far lower than most allosexual people describe but not quite absent. Being gray-A says nothing about libido or whether someone chooses to date or have sex.
