I oop

"I oop," often heard as "and I oop," is a viral expression that conveys sudden shock, surprise, or the flustered pause after saying or seeing something startling. It comes from a 2015 YouTube video by RuPaul's Drag Race performer Jasmine Masters, who blurted "and I oop" after an accidental jolt mid-sentence. The clip circulated for years before exploding across social media in 2019, when it became strongly associated with "VSCO girl" internet culture. Like much online slang of that era, its roots trace back to Black queer and drag communities. Today it is used playfully across queer online spaces and the broader internet as a lighthearted reaction to anything unexpected.
