Play Sheets

Written checklists or questionnaires used in BDSM and kink to negotiate interests, limits, and health details before a scene.

In BDSM and kink settings, play sheets are written documents, often laid out as checklists or questionnaires, that partners use during negotiation before playing together. A typical sheet inventories activities someone is curious about, hard limits (absolute no-gos), soft limits (things approached carefully), experience levels, and relevant health or safety considerations. The purpose is informed consent: both people share a clear, agreed record of what is and is not on the table before a scene begins. Play sheets are especially useful with new partners or for complex scenes involving several activities, since they surface mismatches early and reduce the chance of assumptions. They support, but do not replace, ongoing verbal check-ins and the ability to stop at any time.
