Pussy

Pussy is a common informal word for the vulva or vagina. In queer feminist spaces it has been widely reclaimed as a source of power rather than shame. Language about genitals can be especially personal for transgender and transmasculine people: some reclaim or reframe words like "pussy" in ways that affirm their gender, while others prefer different terms, and there is no single right choice. The word also appears across queer cultural contexts, from ballroom slang to trans sexual health discussions, where being both frank and affirming matters for care and self-expression. Because it can be affectionate, clinical-adjacent, or dysphoria-inducing depending on the person and setting, the respectful practice is to follow the language each individual uses for their own body.
