Slamming
Slamming is the intravenous injection of drugs, usually crystal methamphetamine, in a sexual setting, a practice within the wider chemsex scene.
Slamming, also called slamsex, means injecting drugs intravenously during or before sex, most often crystal methamphetamine and sometimes mephedrone or other stimulants. It is one practice within the broader chemsex phenomenon observed among some gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men. People describe motivations ranging from an intense rush and reduced inhibition to prolonged sex and a sense of connection. The health risks are significant: injecting carries a high risk of HIV and hepatitis C transmission through shared needles, plus overdose and dependency dangers. LGBTQ+ health services and harm-reduction programs offer non-judgmental support, sterile equipment, testing, and treatment for people affected by chemsex and slamming.
