Stealth
Stealth describes a transgender person living fully as their gender without disclosing their transgender history to most people.
Stealth refers to a transgender person who is seen and accepted simply as their gender, without publicly sharing that they are trans. Someone living stealth passes in everyday life and reveals their history only to a select few, such as a partner or doctor. People choose stealth for many reasons, including safety, privacy, and the wish to move through the world without their transness being the focus. Others prefer to be openly trans and treat visibility as central to their identity and advocacy. Neither path is more valid. Within trans communities, stealth sparks ongoing conversation about disclosure, safety, and the right to privacy.
