Transgender Flag

The Transgender Pride Flag has five horizontal stripes: light blue at the top and bottom (a traditional color for boys), pink just inside them (a traditional color for girls), and a single white stripe in the center for people who are intersex, transitioning, or who do not identify with a fixed gender. Trans activist and U.S. Navy veteran Monica Helms designed it in 1999 and first flew it at a Pride parade in Phoenix in 2000. The symmetrical layout means the flag reads the same no matter which way it is flown. It is now the most widely recognized symbol of the transgender community worldwide, and one of Helms' original flags is held by the Smithsonian.
