Ve / Ver / Vis

Ve/ver/vis is a set of gender-neutral neopronouns some nonbinary people use in place of he, she, or they.

Ve, ver, and vis are a set of neopronouns, meaning newly coined gender-neutral pronouns, used by some nonbinary and gender-diverse people as an alternative to he/him, she/her, or they/them. In a sentence they work like this: Ve went to the store, I called ver, and that is vis book. Neopronoun sets like this circulate mainly in online and younger LGBTQ+ communities among people who want language that reflects their identity beyond singular they, which remains the most common gender-neutral option. Using someone's pronouns, whatever set they choose, is a basic form of respect. If you are unsure which forms to use or how they fit into a sentence, it is fine to ask the person directly.
