Weave

Weave is a hair extension sewn or attached into natural hair, and in Black queer and ballroom slang it fuels expressions like 'snatched my weave' meaning to be stunned or impressed.

A weave is a hair extension or hairpiece sewn, glued, or braided into a person's natural hair to create length, volume, or a specific style. In Black drag and ballroom culture, weave carries expressive meaning beyond the literal. Phrases like 'she snatched my weave' or 'the weave is gone' signal being stunned, shaken, or thoroughly impressed, drawing on the image of a wig or weave being yanked off in a dramatic moment. The closely related 'snatched' describes something so striking it 'snatched' your weave. Rooted in Black queer vernacular and ballroom slang, these expressions have spread into wider drag and pop culture, notably through shows like RuPaul's Drag Race.
