Aro
Aro is short for aromantic, describing someone who experiences little or no romantic attraction to others.
Aro is the colloquial short form of aromantic, a romantic orientation defined by experiencing little or no romantic attraction. The opposite of aromantic is alloromantic, meaning someone who does feel romantic attraction. Being aro is an orientation, not a choice, a wound, or a phase. Aromantic people can still feel sexual attraction, and many have close friendships, chosen family, and deep platonic or queerplatonic bonds. Because it exists on a spectrum, aro overlaps with identities like greyromantic (rarely feeling romantic attraction) and demiromantic (feeling it only after a strong emotional connection). Aro people who are not asexual may also pair the label with another orientation, such as aromantic bisexual.
