Bigender, sometimes written bi-gender or dual-gender, is a gender identity that falls under the multigender, non-binary, and transgender umbrellas. A bigender person experiences two distinct genders, which may be present at the same time or may alternate. Those two genders can be female and male, but they can also be any combination, such as woman and non-binary, or agender and man. The concept has roots going back decades. In the 1980s a trans organization described a "bigenderist" as a type of androgyne, and 1990s writing on the gender continuum described people who felt or acted as both a woman and a man. Bigender people may use different pronouns depending on how they feel or present.
