Monosexual

Monosexual describes a person who is romantically or sexually attracted to only one gender, a category that includes both heterosexual and gay or lesbian people.

Monosexual is a neutral descriptor for people whose attraction is directed at a single gender. It covers straight people as well as gay and lesbian people, and it is usually used in contrast with bisexual, pansexual, or other plurisexual identities. The term appears most often in academic writing and bisexual advocacy, where it helps name the shared assumption behind bisexual erasure: that everyone must ultimately be attracted to just one gender. It is a descriptive word rather than an identity most people claim for themselves, and it is not a slur. Related terms include monosexism, the bias that favors single-gender attraction.
