QTBIPOC

QTBIPOC stands for Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. It builds on QPOC and QTPOC by naming Black and Indigenous people directly, since their histories and needs are often distinct from the broader category of "people of color." The term grew out of a wider move to say BIPOC rather than a single blanket phrase, so that anti-Black racism and the specific experiences of Indigenous communities stay visible. In LGBTQ+ organizing, QTBIPOC signals a commitment to centering people who hold several marginalized identities at once and who can face compounded discrimination across race, gender, and sexuality. You will see it used by events, mutual-aid groups, and researchers. Some variations add an I for intersex, giving QTIBIPOC.
