QTPOC
QTPOC stands for Queer and Trans People of Color, naming the specific experiences of transgender and gender-diverse people of color within LGBTQ+ communities.
QTPOC stands for Queer and Trans People of Color. It works much like QPOC but names transgender and gender-diverse people explicitly, since their experiences are often different from those of cisgender queer people of color. The term is used in activist, academic, and community settings to make clear that trans people of color face discrimination and violence across several systems at once, tied to race, gender identity, and sexuality. Transgender women of color in particular are affected by disproportionate rates of violence, which is part of why QTPOC-specific advocacy, visibility, and safe spaces matter. The related term QTBIPOC pushes this further by naming Black and Indigenous people directly.
