Endosex

Endosex is a word for people whose innate sex characteristics, such as chromosomes, hormones, genitals, and reproductive anatomy, fit the standard medical expectations for a female or male body. It is the direct opposite of intersex, in the same way that cisgender is the counterpart to transgender. The term (sometimes written as dyadic or perisex) exists so that being non-intersex is named as its own experience rather than treated as the unspoken default. Naming it helps keep conversations about bodies clear and reduces the sense that intersex people are the only ones with a sex characteristic status worth mentioning. It is a neutral, descriptive word, not an identity or an orientation.
