Gender Unicorn

The Gender Unicorn is a one-page educational graphic that illustrates the differences between gender identity, gender expression, sex assigned at birth, and attraction.

The Gender Unicorn is a visual teaching tool created by Trans Student Educational Resources (TSER), a youth-led advocacy organization. Using a friendly unicorn character and sliding scales, it separates five ideas that are often confused: gender identity, gender expression, sex assigned at birth, physical attraction, and emotional attraction. Each is shown as its own spectrum rather than a simple binary. TSER designed it as a more accurate alternative to the earlier Genderbread Person, particularly around how it handles sex assigned at birth. The graphic is widely used by schools, clinics, and workplaces as an introduction to gender concepts, and TSER offers it as a free downloadable PDF.
