Masculine of Center (MOC)

Masculine of Center is an umbrella term for queer people who lean toward the masculine side of the gender spectrum, coined by activist B. Cole.

Masculine of Center (MoC) is an umbrella term coined by activist B. Cole of the Brown Boi Project to describe people who lean toward the masculine side of the gender-expression spectrum. It covers a range of cisgender and transgender identities, including butch women, studs, aggressives (AGs), bois, and transmasculine people. The phrase is intentionally broad and non-binary, giving people a way to claim masculinity without committing to one narrower label. It has been especially meaningful in Black and Latinx queer communities, where terms like "stud" and "AG" carry specific cultural meaning and where mainstream words like "butch" have not always felt inclusive of queer people of color.
