Tomgirl
Tomgirl describes a boy or male-assigned person who leans toward traits, interests, or presentation traditionally coded as feminine, roughly the mirror image of tomboy.
Tomgirl is a term for a boy or male-assigned person who expresses traits, interests, or a style traditionally coded as feminine. It is often framed as the counterpart to tomboy. The word overlaps with femboy and is sometimes listed alongside variants like mollygirl or janegirl. For many people it simply describes a feminine boy who is comfortable in his gender, while for others it can be early language for exploring a transfeminine or nonbinary identity before other words feel right. Like tomboy, being a tomgirl does not by itself say anything about someone's gender identity or sexual orientation. In LGBTQ+ contexts the term is generally used warmly and as self-description rather than as an insult.
