Trans-Fan

Trans-fan, sometimes written transfan, is a slang term for a person, most often a cisgender heterosexual man, who is specifically drawn to trans women. It overlaps with the more common and more critical word chaser. Attraction to trans people is not a problem in itself, and many trans people date happily. The critique attached to terms like trans-fan and chaser is about the pattern where someone treats a trans partner as a fetish or a category rather than as a full person, focusing on their trans status instead of who they are. Healthy attraction respects a trans woman's individuality, autonomy, and humanity. Some trans people use T4T to describe attraction within the community.
