Boymoder

Boymoder is a piece of transgender slang describing someone who is in boymode, meaning presenting outwardly as masculine or as their assigned gender at birth. It most often refers to a trans woman who may already be on hormones or identifying privately as a woman but who is not yet out, and who presents as male in public. People boymode for many reasons, including safety from harassment, personal comfort, family or work circumstances, or simply being early in transition. The term emerged in online trans communities and is used mainly as self-identification. Its counterpart is girlmoder. It reflects the reality that transition is a process that unfolds differently for each person.
