Cishet

Cishet is a portmanteau of cisgender and heterosexual. It describes someone whose gender identity matches the sex they were assigned at birth and who is attracted to a different gender, meaning a person who is neither transgender nor part of the LGBTQ+ community by orientation. The word is common in queer online spaces and conversations about identity, where it offers a quick way to name the majority experience. It is descriptive rather than an insult, often used in discussions of privilege, representation, and allyship. Context matters: like any label, it can be used neutrally or pointedly, but at its core it simply names a combination of two common identities.
