Clocked

Clocked is the past tense of "clock" and describes being identified as transgender, non-binary, or in drag when a person hoped to be read as cisgender or simply as their gender. For trans people, being clocked can bring safety concerns in unwelcoming environments, along with emotional weight tied to passing and gender dysphoria. In drag culture the term is more neutral, meaning someone saw through the performance. It is also used more loosely to mean being caught out or noticed in any way you did not intend, as in "she clocked that I was lying." Whether it feels harmless or tense depends heavily on who is speaking and the setting.
