Sugar Baby

A sugar baby is the person in a sugar dating arrangement who receives financial support, gifts, travel, or other material benefits from a wealthier, usually older partner known as a sugar daddy or sugar mommy. The relationship sits somewhere between conventional dating and a transactional arrangement, and it may involve romance, sex, companionship, or some blend of the three. The term dates to at least the 1920s United States, where sugar was slang for money. Sugar arrangements appear across all orientations and gender identities, including within gay, lesbian, bisexual, and queer relationships, and are a recognized part of how people negotiate intimacy, money, and companionship.
